About This Weekend’s Met Branch Trail Day

Our
Met Branch Trail Day is this Saturday, Aug. 17. We’re pleased to have received an overwhelming response to both the trail ride and the cleanup—so overwhelming that we’ve closed registration for both.
If you’d still like to come out and support WABA this Saturday, we’re very much in need of marshals for the trail ride from Silver Spring to the Brookland Metro station. For more information and to sign up, see
this page.
We also need volunteers to make the cleanup run smoothly. We’re seeking:
- Cleanup crew leaders: Meet at 11 a.m. at the Brookland Metro station to direct cleanup participants hand out tools until about 3 p.m.
- Check-in captains: Meet at 11:40 a.m. at the Brookland Metro Station to check in participants until about 12:30 p.m.
- Met Branch Trail spokespeople: Between 1:30 and 4 p.m. or 4 and 6:30 p.m., help WABA staffers table at NoMa’s BeerFest. We’d love for people who are familiar with the MBT and enjoy talking about it, its access points, and the planning and advocacy around the trail to share their knowledge.
Sign up for any of the above volunteer opportunities
here.
Additionally, you can meet us at
NoMa’s Beer Fest! We’ll be tabling there, and you’ll have the opportunity to talk to our staff about what we do. In particular, trail rangers will be on hand to discuss the Trail Ranger program (through which we’re able to bring you Met Branch Trail Day) and what WABA membership can do for you.
